Grimshaw & Associates, LLC (G&A) offers consulting services in the areas of energy policy and environmental protection. Thomas W. Grimshaw, Ph.D., President, has a broad range of experience in both of these areas. At present, emphasis is placed on unconventional energy sources, particularly cold fusion (CF, also referred to as low energy nuclear reactions, LENR).

As Research Fellow at The University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Grimshaw is currently providing leadership in two projects. The first project involves assessing the outlook for unconventional natural gas and oil resources, including coalbed methane, oil sands, shale gas and oil, oil shale, and methane hydrate. Energy policy opportunities for improving the outlook are also being identified. The second project focuses on shale gas, one of the most important – and controversial – energy resource developments in recent history. Evidence-based policymaking is being employed to provide guidance to regulators to resolve current controversies and develop future rational regulations.

Dr. Grimshaw made a career change in recent years in part to engage in the unfolding development of CF/LENR as a major potential source of energy. Events in 2011 have substantially improved the prospects of CF/LENR as an important emerging energy technology. Dr. Grimshaw would like to help assure its success and deal with secondary impacts of its realization as a source of very inexpensive, environmentally benign, and virtually unlimited energy to meet society's needs.

Prior to changing careers, Dr. Grimshaw gained extensive experience in environmental services by performing or managing many projects. This experience included definition of baseline conditions, developing mitigative measures where required, and planning for cleanup of releases to the environment. Many of his environmental projects were for energy facilities, including coal mines, oil and gas fields, coal-fired power plants, and synthetic fuels plants.

G&A services are provided in five categories: energy policy, cold fusion, environmental protection, project management, and organization development. Click here for additional detail on these services.
